He played a big role in establishing the legal code of the colony. As an early settler, he was a farmer and was important in establishing the early agrarian policies of the colony. The governor was also a writer, authoring a detailed chronicle of the history of the colony. Finally, Bradford was an entrepreneur in the fur trade industry.
